About Dr Bothe
Dr. Bothe has 25 years of acute and chronic pain management experience, for conditions ranging from the pain related to cancer to diabetic neuropathy; from fibromyalgia to occupational injury; from spine conditions to the pain of spinal cord injury. He is widely known and respected for his medical skills and knowledge, objectivity and integrity.
A sought-after speaker, he is known for clear communication of his message and for his recognition of the humor in all facets of life. These skills have also been brought to a series of CD’s and DVD’s for primary care physicians to improve their understanding of the management of pain. Other DVD’s have been recorded with experts in other fields, and directed at issues outside of pain. He has been interviewed on television about pain diagnosis and management.
Those communication skills, combined with listening to people in pain and gently sharing his sense of humor, have endeared him to his patients. They consistently comment on his attentive and compassionate care, in addition to their appreciation for his help in regaining their lives.
Dr. Bothe is Board Certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. During his training in that specialty, he worked with one of the premier experts and pioneers in the management of soft tissue pain – David Simons MD. That experience and training sparked a lifelong passion for studying about and helping people in pain. Since then, Dr. Bothe’s practice has been essentially limited to the management of pain and its associated side effects and disabilities.
He has managed work-related pain on a large scale for many years. His thorough and analytical medical knowledge and experience, along with his reputation for unbiased objectivity, have resulted in many referrals for his opinion on patients involved with litigation. He has been hired by plaintiffs as well as defendants for such evaluations. Independent medical evaluations, second opinions, and independent medical chart reviews have all been referred to him from both sides of various cases, and he has performed hundreds of them over the years.
Dr. Bothe’s medical/legal experience also includes giving hundreds of depositions and providing testimony in court for a number of cases. Attorneys on either side of many cases have commented on his knowledge, lack of bias, clear communication, and calm coolness while testifying.
